Senior Interview coaching for professionals, leaders and future leaders

Elizabeth Conley, Interview CoachIf you’re preparing for a high-stakes interview and want thoughtful, structured support rather than generic advice, you’re in the right place.

I work with experienced professionals, leaders and ambitious early-career candidates who want to feel clear, confident and in control in interviews that genuinely matter,  whether that’s a promotion, a career change, or a highly competitive selection process.

Interview coaching isn’t just about practising answers. It’s about understanding how you’re being heard, what’s getting in the way, and how to show up as the person you need to be for the next stage of your career.

Experience you can rely on

I’ve been fortunate to spend over a decade coaching more than a thousand clients, often at pivotal moments in their careers,  and sometimes at pivotal moments in their lives.

I work across the public and private sectors, supporting senior leaders, professionals stepping into greater responsibility, career changers, and candidates navigating particularly competitive or high-pressure interview processes. In many cases, the impact of coaching extends beyond one individual, influencing partners, families and long-term career decisions.

Some clients work with me over many years,  moving from specialist to leader, from corporate roles into public service, or from senior executive careers into portfolio or non-executive work. Trust, confidentiality and honest reflection are central to all of that work.

How I work

People often describe interview preparation as practising questions and answers. That’s part of what we do,  but it’s rarely where I start.

My work begins with clarity: understanding how you’re currently coming across, why certain approaches may no longer be landing, and what needs to change to achieve the outcome you’re looking for. Only once those foundations are in place does practising answers become genuinely useful.

I coach with compassion, but also with honesty. That can mean hearing things you don’t want to hear, working outside your comfort zone, or letting go of overly rigid preparation. Equally, it can mean restoring confidence, reducing anxiety, and making small but powerful adjustments that transform how you’re perceived.

Confidentiality is essential. Many of my clients can’t safely explore these issues with colleagues, friends or family,  or are quietly asking themselves why others seem to be succeeding when they are not. Coaching gives you a confidential, constructive space to reflect, recalibrate and move forward with confidence.

Confidence, anxiety and presence

I work with many capable, experienced people who struggle in interviews not because they lack ability, but because anxiety, past experiences or over-preparation get in the way.

Some clients come to me after repeated rejection, difficult experiences at work, or interviews where their mind goes blank under pressure. We often prepare differently , focusing less on scripts and more on clarity, flexibility and presence,  so you can think clearly and respond naturally in the moment.

In a world of virtual interviews and senior leadership visibility, I also help clients work on how they communicate as leaders: tone, pace, storytelling and presence. Often, once these things are noticed and adjusted, confidence and credibility follow quickly.

Language, leadership and career change

I see many career transitions falter in interview because candidates underestimate how much their language needs to change.

Whether you’re moving sectors, professions or levels of seniority, it’s easy to continue speaking in the language of your previous role. I help you understand what interviewers are really listening for,  and how to translate your experience so it’s heard clearly and credibly in a new context.

This work is particularly valuable for career changers, professionals stepping into leadership roles, and those moving between commercial, public sector or regulated environments.

Who is this coaching for

You’re likely to benefit from working with me if you’re an experienced professional who knows you have strong capability, but want support to show it more clearly and confidently in interview.

You may recognise yourself if you’re:

  • Stepping into a more senior or leadership role,  perhaps in temporary promotion — and now need to compete against strong external candidates

  • Highly experienced, but finding that confidence has been knocked by rejection, difficult experiences at work, or interviews that haven’t gone as expected

  • Making a sideways or non-linear career move and need to adapt your language to demonstrate your transferable value

  • A strong operator with substantial experience, but aware that your communication, presence or impact in interview could be sharper

Not everyone needs one-to-one coaching. But if you’re navigating change, pressure or increased competition, the right support can make a decisive difference.

If you would like to explore working together, you can request a consultation and outline your situation. I will review your information personally and advise on whether focused one-to-one coaching would be appropriate.
